How do I design a die with DIEMAKER ?

You can use DIEMAKER to design dies in a variety of ways.  There is no right "way" to use DIEMAKER because DIEMAKER is a collection of tools.  However, I do recommend that you become familiar with the DIEMAKER layers and how you can use DIEMAKER's layer controls to manipulate those layers.  The layer scheme and layer control tools in DIEMAKER are the core around which many of the other tools are design to operate.  You can use as much or as little of these DIEMAKER layers as you like, but you do want to use at least one layer group such as "APP-M-*".

Many users start by drawing a flat blank on the APP layer group, then coping it to the BLO (Blank LayOut) layer group.  On the BLO layers they create a representation of the strip.  From there, openings are often copied to the DIE layer group.  DIEMAKER provides tools for easily coping between layers.  You can even copy to multiple layers and apply different offset for each layer.

The extent to which you detail your designs determines much about how you use DIEMAKER.  Some users draw each major component on it's own layer group while others get by with just a few layers.

How many companies are using DIEMAKER ?

Over three hundred companies have licensed DIEMAKER.  Many of these companies are licensed to use multiple copies of DIEMAKER.  Most are in the Great Lakes area.

What about training and support ?

One day (6 hours) of training is provided with the first license of DIEMAKER.  Customers in the Chicagoland and Milwaukee area often receive this training on site.  Some users travel to our location for training, but most find DIEMAKER to be relatively easy to learn on their own.

One year of support is included with each license of DIEMAKER and I put our phone number on the cover of the manual.  Please refer to the link on Pricing for more information on support.

How long will it take to become productive with DIEMAKER ?

The answer to that question varies.  It depends greatly on how skilled you are with plain AutoCAD.  Some of the tools in DIEMAKER are so powerful that they will begin affecting your productivity immediately.  Most users don't use all the tools that DIEMAKER provides.  Most users quickly become "dependant" on DIEMAKER because once they use it to perform tasks that took much longer with plain AutoCAD, they don't want to be without DIEMAKER.

Will I be able to use DIEMAKER on my home computer ?

Often, licensed users want to use DIEMAKER on their computers at home.  Sometimes its so they can take design work home, others just want the freedom to learn more about the DIEMAKER program or customizing it.  Each license of DIEMAKER is programmed to operate only with the AutoCAD serial numbers provided when purchasing the license.  If you would like to use DIEMAKER at home, e-mail or call me and let me know your intentions, we can probably make arrangements.
